Domain Delegation
Your registered domain name MUST be delegated to our name servers before you can use it.

Once your domain name is delegated you can able to access your domain name and use it for email and web purposes.

Included Options
The following options are included at no extra, but have just not been initially "turned on" for your server. Please contact us to organise ASP, Frontpage, PHP or mySQL if required

Site Management/Administration
Once delegation is complete, you can access your site administration section from this URL:
http://www.yourdomainname.com/siteadmin/
using the user name and password you created your account with.

Until then, access this routine at
http://www.ozsmallbiz.net:81/.cobalt/siteManage/www.yourdomainname.com/

The Site Administrator can:

  1. add/modify users (up to five users included with most services)
  2. manage (unmoderated) email discussion lists
  3. view site statistics - although a better report is available (see below), and
  4. backup and restore site and user details.
Site Parameters
Your server provides you with 50 meg of space in total - for all web pages and user email.

When adding additional users, we'd suggest that each user was given a maximum of 5-10 meg of space for their own web/email needs.

If users don't check email regularly and a mailbox gets full, people will be unable to send them email, instead receiving a message advising that the mailbox is full.

Additional allocation for hard disk space and/or users is available at extra cost if required. Please contact us to organise for you.

Email Accounts
There is ONE user account (mail box or pop-box) attached to the administrator and that is adminusername@yourdomainname.com, where adminusername is the user name you provided when you applied for this account.

You can also log in to the Site Administration section and add four additional users (5 in total).

Your service is set up with a "catch-all" facility, which allows you to also use an unlimited number of email "aliases" i.e. any email addressed to any-name-at-all@yourdomainname.com will be sent to your adminusername@yourdomainname.com mail box.

There is a maximum size of 2 meg allowed for an incoming email message. Any email received in excess of this will be returned to the sender.

Email Configuration
To check mail, you users need to configure their email software. Please follow these instructions to configure your email software to send and receive email.
FTP Access
Site administrators and users can upload files to your web server using ftp software.

Main Web Site

Using your main site adminusername and password, FTP to www.ozsmallbiz.net (or www.yourdomainname.com once delegated). This places you into the /users/adminusername directory.

Go UP two levels to / and then select web to place your main domain web pages in. The server expects to find the default welcome page at /web/index.html

Your server is configured to run CGI scripts. These need to live in the /web/cgi-bin directory which you will need to create if needed. Remember to set the permissions of these scripts to 0755. Path info need for scripts is:
Perl: /usr/bin/perl
Sendmail : /usr/sbin/sendmail
Web directory : /home/sites/www.yourdomainname.com/web

You can also use .shtml pages if required. They just need the .shtml extension to work correctly.

To Preview Your Main Site

To preview your main web site before delegation is complete, go to:
http://www.ozsmallbiz.net/newsite/www.yourdomainname.com/

Custom Error Pages

To include custom error pages on your site, put the following

ErrorDocument 404 /filenotfound.html into an .htaccess file and place it in the /web directory.

Ensure that you also upload the custom error page to /web/filenotfound.html and that all links and paths to images etc referenced in the page are absolute URL's which use the full httpd://path.to.link/image structure.

User Admin and Web Pages

Once created by the Site Administrator, each user can also FTP into the server, and upload pages to their own /user/web directory. For example, web pages placed in /users/username/web will be the "personal" pages of the username, accessible under the URL www.yourdomainname.com/~username

Each "user" can also administer their own Personal Profile and email settings etc by logging in with their user name and password to http://www.yourdomainname.com/personal/

Web Server Statistics
While some stats are provided by the administration routine, comprehensive statistics are generated by Webalizer) daily at around 4.00am Sydney time IF any activity has been logged.

To view these site statistics, go to http://www.yourdomainname.com/stats/ (Site Admin username and password required).
